Some of the most talked-about footwear at New York Fashion Week barely qualifies as footwear. Models went barefoot at Tory Burch and Calvin Klein, and the week's most photographed debut came from 23-year-old designer Evelina, whose shoes look like classic ped socks. Call it the anti-shoe: a sole thin enough to disappear, an upper reduced to almost nothing. It is the exact opposite of the chunky sneaker, and it leaves the rest of the outfit to do the work.
