Stacking tops has returned, but not in its original form. The early version was about piling camisoles over polo shirts; the current one is more considered, treating layering as a way to build outfits that work across a long day rather than as a look in itself. One runway turned it into the whole proposition, with shirts under cardigans under technical jackets. Retailers are now selling single garments cut to look like two.
